Review in Whole Dog Journal

The Balance Harness earned a four-paw distinction from the rigorous Whole Dog Journal in their 2017 "Best Dog Harnesses Review."  Here's what WDJ had to say about the Balance Harness:

"We like this well-designed, well-made harness a lot. Made by Blue-9 Pet Products, it offers two nice, large rings as attachment points, one in the front and one on the back, and adjusts in six places – more than any of the other products we reviewed. Every single strap that connects one piece of hardware to another adjusts individually: the left and right sides of the neck, the left and right sides of the chest, as well as the straps that connect the 'collar' of the harness to the 'girth.'  This enables an owner to get the fit just right.  To put it on the dog, you pull the 'collar' section over the dog's head, pass the lower straps through the front legs, and snap them on both sides to the top strap, which is easy to identify and position given its contrasting color.  It's super easy.

PROS: Good-quality materials, simple design.  Very minimal sideways shifting of chest ring when leash pressure is applied.  Girth strap can be adjusted far enough back to be well clear of the armpits to avoid chafing.

CONS: Seriously, we were hard-pressed to find anything to criticize on this harness: none."

Humane Walking Equipment

The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants all endorse positive reinforcement training protocols that require trainers to utilize the most humane equipment and techniques available. Punishing equipment such as prong, choke, and shock collars suppress unwanted behavior by causing pain, intimidation, and fear, and don't teach our dogs any alternative behaviors or healthy life skills.  Humane equipment paired with relationship-based training techniques provide the most compassionate and effective solution for resolving unwanted behaviors and teaching our dogs what we want them to do instead.  To achieve comfortable, enjoyable leash walks, Plucky Paws recommends the Balance Harness paired with loose leash walking training.
